The SI Lab, an independent professional organisation dedicated to social intelligence that brings together researchers, analysts, marketers and companies, interviewed Emmanuel Tricot about the judgment handed down on 7 May 2026 by the Paris Economic Activities Court (Tribunal des activités économiques) in the dispute between AgoraPulse, represented by Rive Gauche Avocats, and X.

The dispute concerned a sudden and substantial increase in X’s API access fees. The court ruled in favour of AgoraPulse, taking into account its dependence on the API, the lack of any genuine negotiation and the very short notice given. It ordered X to restore the previous pricing for fifteen months.

For Emmanuel Tricot, the message to social media software companies is an important one: even where a platform alone controls access to its own data, it cannot use that control to impose unbalanced terms or abruptly upend an established commercial relationship.

The judgment, which is under appeal, is discussed in more detail in our analysis of 20 May 2026.
